graphite on vintage ‘Dick n Jane’ flash cards Approx.
dimensions for each card are 3″ X 11″ (10″ X 11″, all three)

Jason D’Aquino is a miniaturist. He creates his artwork on an incredibly small scale, many works not exceeding one inch by one inch in dimension.

D’Aquino chooses to work on found surfaces such as strike-on-front matchbooks, 18th century animal-skin vellum and antique ledger pages. His search for these found “canvases” has led him to strange corners of the world and to some unique treasures. He recently unearthed a hand-quilled, illustrated whaling manuscript from St. Petersburg Russia, which made its way to Christies Auction House in New York City.

Jason’s influences include H.P. Lovecraft, Henry Darger and Hans Bellmer. His drawings, often political in nature, have graced the pages of the New York Times, Justapoz, I.T.A., The Stranger and Gulliver Magazine. A hardbound volume of his work is forthcoming, soon to be released by Ignition Publishing.

Robert Craig

Sacrifice, Oil and Acrylic on Canvas

SOLD

acrylic and oil on canvas, 40×30″

Born in New York City, Robert showed an aptitude for art at a very early
age. At the age of 7 he knew, not that he “would be” an artist,
but that he “was” an artist. By the age of 14 while staring
at a Frank Frazetta original that was hanging in the Society of Illustrators
he knew exactly what ‘kind’ of artist he wanted to be. Robert wanted to
be, and became a commercial illustrator. Robert illustrated ads for Playboy,
Rolling Stone, IBM, Sony, Disney, Viacom, TV Guide, Westinghouse, General
Motors, Cigarette brands such as Winston, Doral, Magna, and yes Camel.
Robert had a hand in some of the now infamous Joe Camel illustrations.
Robert worked in marathon sessions. It was not unusual for him to work
24-36 sometimes 72 straight hours. After 30 years of this….it got old.

Now the role of a commercial illustrator had changed quite a bit and so
had Robert. Robert retired from his life long occupation and decided to
paint what he wanted and sell his work through the galleries. Robert was
successful almost immediately. His technical skills and imagination have
brought him many supporters from around the country. We hope he continues
to entertain us with his work for many years to come.

“Lyrical, beguiling, poetic, unearthly, enchanting and unnerving in equal measure. I can barely bring myself to look away from these mirrored remnants of a forgotten history; innocence as grotesque, grotesque as innocence. I like it.” – Johnny Depp
